“Absolutely loved this experience with Milton as a host. I loved how passionate he was and that translated throughout. I was amazed by all the local produce and the various vendors throughout the market! I had the opportunity to try fruits I haven’t before and it was a wonderful experience. Cooking itself was fantastic - you had a beautiful view of the volcano in a beautiful kitchen along with Andrea who assisted! I just wish that I didn’t have such a big breakfast; otherwise, I would've eaten everything clean! As this was my first time visiting Guatemala, this was definitely a highlight of my trip and I would do it…”

“Pampa, our market tour guide was very sweet, informative, and above and beyond friendly and took us on a lovely walk around the bustling market. We then drove to the cooking school to meet up the rest of the class and Dario and Pampa showed us how to cook traditional guatemalan foods Pepian, Jocon, Doblados, and Rellenitos. It was all very delicious and in a very nice setting ontop the rooftop with a view of the mountains. Drinks could be purchased and there was free wine. A delightful way to spend the day and I met some awesome people taking the class as well! They were able to accomodate vegans…”

Learn to make Guatemalan pepian with Maria’s family in Santa Ana Village, using a Mayan grinding stone, tortillas, and a local beverage.

“We enjoyed this authentic Guatemalan Mayan cooking class with Maria and her family members. We had that opportunity to make three different traditional and delicious Guatemalan foods. Our guide, Xoshil met us in Antigua and facilitated our trip to a local home on the outskirts of town. She was very knowledgeable about Antigua and Guatemala and shared many interesting facts as we moved to the city and throughout the entire class. We are English speaking and she was able to translate everything that the local Spanish-speaking family said. This is a hands-on cooking class with lots of opportunity to participate and understand the preparation of the dishes. It was clear…”

“This really was a worthwhile experience. Our tour guide/translator was wonderful communicating where to meet us. I originally did not realize it was in a neighboring community I thought it was in Antigua. But was a short $5 Uber ride away. We met our tour guide, he was wonderful and friendly. I thought we would tour the town or a market but we went directly to the home where we would make dinner. Be prepared and I do not mean this in a negative way but you are making dinner in the home of a local Guatemalan family. The poverty is staggering. They are wonderful welcoming and kind. I felt…”
