“The trip was fantastic! The drive provided us with a glimpse of other active volcanos and the surroundings. Once we arrived to Pacaya, we were greeted by staff and able to trek for approximately two hours. The hike was moderately challenging due to the previous days of rain making the terrain more loose and slippery. We were able to roast marshmallows over the hot spots of the volcanic rock. This tour provided an insight to Guatemala’s natural beauty, with some physical activity and excitement once you reach the apex. Wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.”

“This is a pretty intense hike but doable for mosr levels. The hike up Acetenango is easier than the optional hikes up to the summit and El Fuego. The views of El Fuego are spectacular! The operator gives the same amount of food to everyone. It wasn’t nearly enough for a large male (me). Good idea to bring extra. You will need it. The only complaint I have is that the beds were very uncomfortable and cold. Didn’t get much sleep.”
